The session was conducted by Prof. P.V.M. Eao, IIT Delhi. He explained what innovation is and how one can innovate, emphasising the importance of curiosity, observation and problem-solving.
Through inspiring examples of three students – Shalini, Diva and Madhav – he demonstrated how innovative ideas can emerge by simply observing surroundings and identifying problems.
Prof. Eao stressed the need to focus on solutions rather than complaints, urging students to take challenges as opportunities.
He also explained that in the innovation process, failing is not a setback but a stepping stone towards success. Students were encouraged to research deeply, collaborate with stakeholders and build prototypes to test solutions. His mantra:
“Design, Build, Test, Fail and Modify.”
Activity 2: Field Visit & Idea Creation

The second session was conducted by Shri Arjun Panchal, Founder & Startup Mentor, who spoke about how to generate innovative ideas and master the ideation process.Using relatable examples — from flood management systems to online ticket booking, battery innovations and bamboo-based solutions — he explained how innovators identify problems and transform them into practical solutions.
Key Highlights from the Session:
● Importance of Ideation: Shri Panchal stressed that ideation is the foundation of innovation.
● Sources of Ideas: Students were encouraged to observe their surroundings, analyse problems, read extensively and interact with people such as retailers, manufacturers and customers.
● Stay Curious: He urged learners to ask questions fearlessly and cultivate a problem-solving mindset.
● Ideation Techniques: Techniques like brainstorming, right-mind mapping and SCAMPER were explained to enhance creativity.
● Design Thinking: He introduced the five stages of Design Thinking:
1. Empathise
2. Define Ideation
3. Prototype
4. Test
5. Modify
Shri Panchal highlighted that every potential problem carries the possibility of becoming a million-dollar idea if approached with the right mindset. Innovative thinking, he said, not only benefits individuals but also institutions, society and the economy.
He further shared details about the School Innovation Contest, explaining that the 200 best innovations from schools could receive funding of up to ₹1.5 lakhs.
Conclusion
Both sessions were highly engaging, inspiring and impactful. Students were motivated to observe keenly, think creatively and find innovative solutions to real-world problems. These initiatives successfully instilled entrepreneurial values and encouraged learners to embrace curiosity, research deeply and convert ideas into tangible outcomes
